Keke Palmer and Sacha Baron Cohen Will Lead David O. Russell’s ‘Super Toys’
Written by SOURCE on February 10, 2023
Keke Palmer and Sacha Baron Cohen have been cast as the leads in David O. Russell’s next film Super Toys.
According to Deadline, Super Toys tells the story of a pair of “groovy ’70s toy sales reps on a life-and-death mission to save themselves, their marriage, and their live-wire 12-year-old daughter while on the road in Middle America.”
Super Toys marks Cohen’s first live-action feature since 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, as well as a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination at the Oscars. It will also be the first confirmed film for Palmer since Jordan Peele’s Nope reminded audiences and Hollywood alike what she’s capable of.
Palmer was named Best Supporting Actress at the New York Film Critics Circle. She also launched the digital platform KeyTV last year, calling it the accomplishment she’s most proud of in her two decades in the business.
“I learned how to be a collaborator and I want to share everything I learned with you,” she explained. “Because this is my greatest dream of all. All it takes is one of us to unlock a door to unlock a million doors for each other. I’m so excited to introduce you guys to KeyTV, where our stories matter and where we are representing as the keys to the culture.”
Super Toys will be written and directed by Russell, who returned in 2022 with Amsterdam, seven years after his Jennifer Lawrence vehicle Joy.
