Kelis’ Husband Mike Mora Passes Away From Stomach Cancer at 37

Photographer Mike Mora has died from stage 4 stomach cancer. Kelis’ husband was 37 years old.
A rep verified Mora’s death, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away. We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now. Thank you.”
Mora revealed in September 2021 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, after having endured “the worst pain” in his stomach, in addition to back pain and no appetite in September 2020. That was also around the time he and Kelis welcomed their second child together, a baby girl born just two weeks before.
“In fact, while she was in the NICU for 10 days (whole other story), I thought the whole time that I just had an ulcer,” Mora wrote last September. “With no idea what was about to come my way.”
Mora and Kelis also share 6-year-old son Shepherd, and Kelis has a 12-year-old son, Knight, with ex-husband Nas.
“I want to be able to help those that might be experiencing something like this—a life-altering disease full of questions and doubt—maybe, hopefully. By showing that it’s possible to make it through,” Mora wrote. “You always see people post about how life is too short. How you should reach out to those you love no matter where life has taken you. It is the truth. Don’t take your time here, your time with friends, family, for granted. Shit can be over just like that!”
