Kendrick Lamar Surprises Baby Keem to Perform Two Songs at Coachella

Fresh off his first ever set at Coachella last weekend, Baby Keem returned to the Sahaha stage on Friday where he surprised fans by performing alongside a pair of special guests.
Following an appearance from Brent Faiyaz, the 21-year-old rapper brought out his cousin Kendrick Lamar to perform “Family Ties” and “Vent,” two of the their three collaborations from Keem’s 2021 debut album The Melodic Blue. Earlier this month, the former track earned Keem his first Grammy Award, winning the Best Rap Performance category at April’s ceremony.
Last night’s performance marks Kendrick’s first public since announcing the title and release date of his new album, which will be called Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. K-Dot took to Twitter on Monday, responding to a speculative tweet about retirement, to confirm the news of his upcoming album. His long-awaited fifth studio LP arrives on May 13.
The announcement came in the form of a pgLang release, viewable on the Oklama website. It reads that it comes from Oklama—a name that Kendrick has been teasing in the past year—and “through his company pgLang.” As the release confirms, “all factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.”
