The Kevin Durant era in the Bay might be coming to a close. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported on SportsCenter that the Warriors don’t believe KD will return before the Finals end.

“Durant just isn’t ready,” Windhorst said following the Raptors’ Game 4 victory over the Warriors. “His body is not ready. The trainers don’t believe it, he doesn’t believe it.”

Durant has been sidelined since suffering a strained calf during Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. He was reportedly set to return midway through the series, and ahead of Game 3, Durant was announced to participate in lights scrimmages/individual workouts. These practices did not go well enough, which pushed the training staff to bench KD prior to Friday night’s tip-off.

“He tried to do some stuff at practice yesterday. It didn’t work. It was frustration all around,” Windhorst explained. “Steve Kerr was really clipped about it. And he basically said today, ‘I’m not going to give you any more updates on Durant. I’m just going to tell you whether he’s playing or not.’ He’s frustrated about it, too.”

It’s possible Durant won’t return to the Warriors at all. Though he hasn’t spoken about where he’ll land, NBA insiders think Durant might move east to the Nets or Knicks. There’s also quite a bit of on-court frustration, too. The Raptors won both games at the Bay to take a commanding 3-1 series lead en route to potentially the first NBA Championship in Canadian history.
