If you have been reading the tea leaves these last few weeks, all signs appear to point towards Kevin Durant joining the New York Knicks this summer. On Wednesday, Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher appeared on FS1’s The Herd with Colin Cowherd where he asserts that further speculation regarding Durant’s future isn’t necessary because it’s a “done” deal.

Bucher’s comments come after Bleacher Report’s Howard Beck not only claimed in a piece published earlier today that Durant was bound for the Knicks, but his good friend Kyrie Irving would “likely” join him. “Rival executives will tell you, without hesitation, that Durant is bound for the Knicks; that Irving is likely to join him,” Beck wrote.

Within Bucher’s commentary about Durant’s rumored departure is this observation that despite being the NBA Finals MVP these last two seasons, KD has never felt welcomed by the team throughout their back-to-back title runs. If Durant wants to solidify his legacy, he can do it by joining a Knicks franchise and fan base that has been thirsting for just a modicum of success.

Bucher believes that an Eastern Conference Finals appearance with the Knicks can supersede anything he has accomplished in The Bay with the Warriors. It’s currently a low bar over in New York, but it’s certainly attainable for KD.
