Kim Kardashian Receives ‘Hundreds’ of Letters Each Week From Prisoners Seeking Freedom

Written by on May 8, 2019

Monday, we learned that Kim Kardashian‘s interest in criminal justice reform matters had extended to the funding and general assistance of the 90 Days of Freedom Campaign. The initiative, launched by Decarceration Collective lawyer MiAngel Cody and Kardashian’s attorney Brittany K. Barnett, has helped 17 people previously locked up on low level drug offenses secure freedom in roughly three months. Now, a new report shows the impact these campaigns are having on others hoping to be freed.

Per TMZ, Kardashian is estimated to receive hundreds of letters per week from others hoping to be reconnected with their friends and families after years locked up on ridiculous sentences. Additionally, the lawyers’ respective offices are flooded with letters and calls, as are all of Kardashian’s social media channels. Kardashian is said to have a nightly process wherein she goes through these requests, ultimately bringing individual ones to her team for additional investigation.

Kardashian, who recently announced she’s working toward becoming a lawyer, talked about her passion for prison reform in a recent KUWTK episode. “But I think now, having gotten so deep in helping Alice, I’m really motivated to get to know the law more and fight for people that deserve a second chance, like her,” she said.

According to a report from i-D Wednesday, Kardashian is also set for an Oxygen documentary titled Kim Kardashian: The Justice Project. The two-hour doc promises fans an “exclusive, never before seen look inside her mission to tackle one of America’s most controversial subjects.”
