Klay Thompson might have ended the NBA Finals with a torn ACL, but the shooting guard is still getting to the bag. He’s reportedly getting set to sign to a five-year, $190 million max contract with the Golden State Warriors when free agency opens on Sunday. Shams Charania broke the news on Twitter. The Warriors and Thompson have supposedly already reached an agreement, securing his place with the team for the foreseeable future.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors remain committed to Thompson despite his severe injury. Warriors plan to keep him out of free agency, and several other teams interested in pursuing him as free agency looms have reportedly given up as it like he’ll stick with the Warriors.
The Warriors also hope to retain Kevin Durant, who’ll be out for the entirety of next season after tearing his Achilles in the NBA Finals.
