Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista Star in the First Trailer for ‘Stuber’

20th Century Fox just shared the first official trailer for Stuber, a fish-out-of-water action-comedy starring Kumail Nanjiani and Dave Bautista.
The movie centers around an Uber driver named Stu (Nanjiani), who has his ride commandeered by a Bad Boys-style loose cannon cop (Bautista). They travel around Los Angeles blowing stuff up, getting shot at, and bickering. It doesn’t look like anything revolutionary, but Nanjiani and Bautista are both so insanely likeable that it’s hard to not want to see them play off of each other in the middle of a shootout.
Stuber is the latest career coup for Nanjiani, who has become something of a leading man after the success of The Big Sick. This is poised to be a big year for the comedian, after he appeared in Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone reboot and is starring in Lovebirds, a rom-com alongside Insecure mastermind Issa Rae.
As for Bautista, he’s lined up roles in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix original Army of the Dead, and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune remake. He also wasn’t forced to make any tough decisions about his role in the Guardians of the Galaxy universe. The wrestler-turned-movie star raised a fuss about the ousting of GOTG director James Gunn, saying that he wasn’t sure he wanted to move forward with the movie without Gunn at the helm. Drax fans dodged a bullet when Disney decided to bring the director back on to its wildly successful MCU offshoot.
Stuber is out in theaters July 12. Take a look at the trailer up top.
