Kylie Jenner Loses Most-Liked Instagram Post Title to Egg Named Eugene

After a long and arduous battle with several photographs of high-profile human beings, a pic of an egg has been deemed the most liked photo on the self-esteem-dismantling social media platform known as Instagram.
Of course, by “long and arduous battle” I mean that the egg in question somehow bagged this feat in a matter of days, an accomplishment no doubt spurred in part by the use of the hashtag #EggSoldiers. At the time of this writing, the egg portrait had amassed more than 30 million likes and a litany of comments ranging from “already famous before birth” and “Eggophilia.”
Anyway, here’s whoever runs @world_record_egg kicking things off back on Jan. 4:
The previous record holder was indeed Kylie Jenner with her February 2018 post marking the arrival of daughter Stormi Webster. At the time of this writing, Jenner’s photo was resting on just over 18 million likes.
An Instagram Story update from the account early Monday suggested that the egg—which USA Today reports is named Eugene—may have more in store for their devoted legion of fans. “This is madness,” the account owner said. “What a time to be alive. Thank you so much for all of your support and messages . . . It doesn’t end here though. We’re only just getting started.” An email sent to the address included in the Instagram account’s bio was not immediately answered.
Somehow, there’s even more to this riveting story. Shortly after news of the egg’s unlikely victory started to spread, Jenner responded by sharing footage of her quite literally destroying an egg. “Take that, little egg,” she wrote, speaking to an egg. The clip is likely to be quite disturbing to the chicken egg depicted in the new most-liked Instagram photo, as well as to any other chicken egg. Eugene, however, has not yet responded.
Other notable entries among Instagram’s most-liked include photos from Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez.
