Kyrie Irving Rips Dissection of Convo With Kevin Durant: ‘Doesn’t Make the League Fun’

Written by on February 21, 2019

On Monday, basketball fans were treating a video of a private conversation between Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in the hallway of the Spectrum Center during All-Star Weekend as if it were the Zapruder film. People were searching for any possible clues that would suggest the two were leaning towards teaming up this offseason as has been widely speculated.

When Kyrie spoke with reporters about the widely-discussed video, the Boston Celtics star guard was clearly more upset over his invasion of privacy, and how his personal conversations get exposed to the public. “I don’t have a private life when I’m out there in the NBA,” he said. “I’m a human being talking to another best friend of mine. It’s just crazy. This is the stuff that just doesn’t make the league fun. Nobody helps promote the league even more by doing bullshit like that.”

After getting consistently pressed to “pour water” on the matter, Kyrie pushed even harder on trying to understand how his personal life has turned into a storyline. “It’s my life, right? It’s two people talking, having a conversation,” he said. “If this was the real world, would it be anybody’s business? But it’s a video of somebody assuming what we’re talking about, making an opinion about it. Why would I care about it? Why does that have an impact on my life?”
