Larry David Says It’s ‘Hard to Think’ Woody Allen ‘Did Anything Wrong’

Written by on April 5, 2020

Woody Allen has become one of Hollywood’s most polarizing figures. So when the director came up in Larry David’s brand new interview with The New York Times, Larry David, it was bound to get a little dicey.

David was interviewed about his life in quarantine, and told NYT that he’s been reading Allen’s controversial new memoir, Apropos of Nothing

“Yeah, it’s pretty great, it’s a fantastic book, so funny,” David—who starred in Allen’s 2009 film, Whatever Works—said. “You feel like you’re in the room with him and yeah, it’s just a great book and it’s hard to walk away after reading that book thinking that this guy did anything wrong.”

Allen’s has become persona non grata in Hollywood and beyond, after his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, accused the director of molesting her through “abusive touching” when she was a child.

The controversy surrounding Allen has all but sunk his directing career. Several celebrities have gone on record claiming that they would never work with the director again. Allen touches on these accusations in his book, which led to a controversial rollout.

Aside from David’s comments about Allen, he also weighed in on the Democratic primary. “I feel he should drop out,” David said of Bernie Sanders. “He’s too far behind. He can’t get the nomination. And I think, you know, it’s no time to fool around here. Everybody’s got to support Biden.”

The rest of NYT profile is something of a delight, especially the accompanying photos, which were taken from outside his home, in true quarantine styles. Check them out below.
