LeBron James said that he considered himself the greatest player of all-time after his Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals.

“That one right there made me the greatest player of all time,” he said in an interview with More Than An Athlete. “That’s what I felt. I was just super, super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland after the 52-year drought.”

Bringing home the title for a city that hadn’t seen one in over a half-century wasn’t the only thing running through LeBron’s mind when he made the GOAT calculation. He had the heard and read the same stories as everyone else, proclaiming the super team Warriors as the greatest team ever assembled. So, when he led the Cavs back from a 3-1 deficit to win against Steph Curry and KD’s Warriors, he couldn’t help but feel a giant slayer’s sense of pride.

“Everybody was just talking how they were the greatest team of all-time like they was the greatest team to ever assemble,” he said. “For us to come back the way we came back, in that fashion, I was like ‘You did something special.'”

Even though LeBron is clearly considering himself among the greatest to ever play the game, he’s not above being starstruck. He recently admitted that when he met Michael Jordan for the first time it was like “meeting God.”
