Lil Baby and Lil Durk will have to make more room on their mantels.
On Friday, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced the rappers had earned nine new certifications for The Voice of the Heroes. The collaborative project, which was released more than a year ago, has officially gone platinum along with two fan-favorite joints, “How It Feels” and the Travis Scott-assisted “Hats Off.”
The 18-song album also received six gold certifications for “Still Runnin” featuring Meek Mill, “2040, “Who I Want,” “Man of My Word,” “Rich Off Pain” with Rod Wave, and “Okay.” Platinum certifications are awarded to records that move 1 million units, while gold are reserved for those that reach the 500,000 mark.
The Voice of the Heroes marks Lil Durk’s second platinum album, following The Voice. Lil Baby now has a total of four platinum albums, including Harder Than Ever, Drip Harder with Gunna, and My Turn.
The collaborative project dropped on June 4, 2021, with contributions by Young Thug, London on da Track, Wheezy, Murda Beatz, and more. The Voice of the Heroes debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, racking in 150,000 album equivalent units; 4,000 of which were pure album sales.
During a recent interview with Ebro Darden, Durk revealed he and Lil Baby had more tracks in the vault and would be open to another joint album.
He who he is, he turned up and actually can rap,” Durk said about Lil Baby. “He ended up rapping his ass off, I’m changing my energy. Matter of fact, we both made each other start writing, too. He would come say something, and I was, ‘Hold on.’ I’d say [censored], he’d be, ‘Hold on.’ So that’s like the energy you would want. You would want that energy. We got so many records that we ain’t put on there.”
When asked if there were any plans for a sequel, Durk told Ebro, “I would do another one.”
