Lil Baby Fans Riot After Festival Cancellation, Rapper Apologizes

Written by on September 20, 2022

A riot erupted at Vancouver’s Breakout Festival on Sunday after it was announced that headliner Lil Baby would not be performing.

According to festival organizers, the Quality Control rapper canceled his performance because he was “too sick to perform.” Videos posted on social media show festival-goers destroying tents, throwing garbage, and breaking equipment.

“Following an announcement that the headliner at BreakOut Festival would not be performing, fans turned their disappointment into anger, doing significant damage to the PNE Amphitheatre and parts of Hastings Park,” festival organizers said in a statement. “At this time our first priority is for the safety and wellbeing of our staff as many were deeply affected by the reaction of guests and behaviour that ensued.”

Lil Baby took to his Instagram Story on Monday to apologize to fans, saying he was too exhausted to perform.

“I would like to start off by saying I truly apologize Vancouver Canada, the Breakout Festival and to everyone who was in attendance!” Baby wrote. “I have been going so hard these past few months without any breaks that it finally caught up with me and my body completely shut down. I owe you guys big time and will for sure make up for it soon.”

Lil Baby is preparing to release his third studio album, It’s Only Me. The official follow-up to his 2020 sophomore effort My Turn, the LP is set to drop Oct. 14. Earlier this month, Baby revealed the cover art for It’s Only Me, which features Rap Mt. Rushmore occupied by four versions of Lil Baby.
