The numbers for Lil Baby, G Herbo, and Bad Bunny’s new albums are here.
Billboard reports that Lil Baby’s sophomore effort My Turn has opened with 197,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., for the week ending in March 5. This is the Atlanta rapper’s first No. 1 album and his biggest week ever for an album, in regards to units earned.
In a new interview with the outlet, Lil Baby confessed his excitement for the possibility of his first No. 1, but still acknowledged that engaging with his fans is bigger than numbers. “Numbers ain’t really that important,” he offered. “They are when you go No. 1… but, for the most part, don’t try to think about the numbers. Just try to go as hard as you can go.”
Bad Bunny’s new album YHLQMDLG also had a momentous debut, landing at No. 2 and earning 179,000 equivalent album units, making it the highest-charting all-Spanish-language album ever on the Billboard 200 chart. The high mark was previously held by Mana’s Amar es Combatir, which came in at No. 4 in 2006.
YHLQMDLG eclipsed Ozuna’s 2018 record Aura, which garnered 53.2 million audio streams. Bad Bunny’s project was largely driven by streaming activity, with 35,000 album sales. Additionally, both Bad Bunny and Lil Baby’s albums are benefiting from merchandise/album bundles through each artist’s individual site.
Mwanwhile, Herbo’s album PTSD landed in the top 10, his first time ever, at No. 7 with 59,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, 4,000 were from album sales.
