Lil Durk Reflects on Not Cooperating With Authorities in 2013 Gun Arrest

Written by on February 21, 2023

Lil Durk reflected on his past gun possession arrest after DJ Akademiks took to social media to post paperwork from the incident. The documents read that the rapper was uncooperative and requested his attorney.

In 2013, he was charged for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon after throwing a loaded .40 caliber handgun into a car when police approached him in Chicago.

“Lil Durk’s paperwork from his 2013 arrest shows him unwilling to pin a gun on his homie despite the fact he was a huge star on the come-up at that time. He later resolved that case in court with his lawyer,” Akademiks captioned his Instagram post.

Durk took to his Instagram stories on Monday to acknowledge the post. “Just shut the f#ck up and you good. #thevoice2.0,” he wrote.

In response to reading about Durk’s loyalty, some fans applauded him for “sticking to the code.” G Herbo entered the comment section and wrote, “Ain’t Lying Smurk,” in agreement. “The correct way to handle yourself if ever caught up,” another fan wrote.

Akademiks also chimed in to the songwriter’s message, writing, “The Voice giving them truth-tellers some advice! Is Durk in the minority of rappers who ain’t telling these days?”

Additionally, some fans compared Durk’s arrest to Gunna, who he collaborated with on the track “What Happened To Virgil.” In 2022, Gunna’s loyalty was put into question after he took a plea deal in the YSL Rico case.

Fans are speculating that Durk might diss the “Wunna” rapper on an upcoming song after a snippet surfaced on social media.

Since then, Gunna’s legal team has released statements shutting down rumors that the YSL rapper snitched. “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” in a statement that was provided to Complex.
