Lil Nas X Stops By ‘Desus & Mero’ for First TV Performance of “Old Town Road”

Illustriousness continues with the latest episode of Desus & Mero, featuring the TV debut of Lil Nas X‘s exponentially remixed “Old Town Road.”
Before X took the bar-set stag backed by a live band, our hosts were seen exchanging a song-appropriate moment of vulnerability beneath cowboy hats.
“My wife left me and she took the F-150,” Desus joked, to which Mero expressed his shock. “Again?” he asked. From there, X looked back on his ascent.
“Every day is like, OK, everything was a dream . . . That terrible situation ended up helping me,” X said of the country music machine’s initial idiotic treatment of his viral hit.
For a web exclusive clip, X joined the hosts for a round of Country or Nah, a simple but effective game in which an item’s country status is determined with a quick assessment. Hot sauce, for example, is determined here to qualify as country. Wizards, meanwhile, receive the opposite distinction.
As reported Monday, X’s breakthrough hit will remain in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 after holding off a chart debut from Taylor Swift and the remaining member of Panic! at the Disco.
Amidst the charts dominance, X recently made a stop on Complex’s own Sneaker Shopping. Revisit that below.
