Lil Tjay Delivers ‘State of Emergency’ Project

Lil Tjay is closing out the week with new music.
The 19-year-old Bronx native returned Thursday night with his State of Emergency mixtape—his first full-length release since his 2019 debut album True 2 Myself. The seven-track project includes the newly released single “Ice Cold,” and is stacked with guest features, including Fivio Foreign, Jay Critch, Jay Gwuapo, Sleepy Hallow, and the late Pop Smoke.
Tjay teased the project earlier this week on Instagram, along with a caption that seemingly took aim at A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and 6ix9ine.
“ALL THAT OTHER NA NA NA SHIT ND SNITCH RAINBOW HAIR SHIT GOING ON IN MY CITY A DUBB,” he wrote.
The comment prompted members of A Boogie’s Highbridge crew to fire back at Tjay: “Next time n***as see n***as, n***as getting stripped out of everything, respectfully. I’m telling you now,” Don Q wrote in his response.
Shortly after the heated exchange, Tjay took to social media to issue an apology:
“Today’s a new day, man. I’m chilling, man. I ain’t tryna argue with nobody,” he said in a video. “I ain’t gon lie… I’m going back to the old Lil Tjay … My fault for getting out of composure. Fuck this beef shit, I don’t encourage it.”

In celebration of the release, Tjay will launch the State of Emergency Experience on Twitch. Billed as a “one-of-a-kind 3D listening experiencing,” the event will follow the rapper has he travels through NYC while playing his new project. Fans can stream Twitch event at 7 p.m. ET Friday.
Viewers will also be encouraged to donate to The Bronx Defenders, a public defender nonprofit that has fought for the release of inmates who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19. Since the outbreak, the organization has helped secure the release of more than 100 clients. Tjay has also pledged to give gift cards to formerly incarcerated individuals who have received assistance from The Bronx Defenders.
