Rising rapper Lil Tjay is already gearing up to release a new project, and to whet appetites he’s unleashed the video for his new song “Ice Cold.”
Featuring Tjay donning a mask as he reflects on his come-up, the David Wept-directed visuals put a focus on the 19-year-old rapper’s lyrics. In fact, the song itself references the coronavirus pandemic. “Take it to the face to calm my feelings, I’m a stoner/Can’t go to them trenches, it be hot like Arizona/JT my aroma, city got corona/Sad to say I know like just two n***as with diplomas,” he raps on the song, before divulging on his past further. He first teased the release on Twitter earlier this week.
Near the end of the video, the State of Emergency mixtape is teased, with a clip of a new track that features a distinctively Brooklyn drill sound. The release of “Ice Cold” follows his appearance on the remix of Bryant Myers’ “Gan-Ga,” his collaboration with Rvssian and Lil Mosey “Only the Team,” and his tribute track to the late Pop Smoke.
