Gunna‘s new album WUNNA, boasting the already familiar title track and the single “Skybox,” has entered the world.
WUNNA follows Gunna’s No. 3-debuting 2019 debut studio album Drip or Drown 2, itself a sequel of sorts to his 2017 EP and packaged with cover art that quickly went down in the annals of unforgettable cover art history.
Gunna’s sophomore album rollout featured the release of a multi-part documentary in partnership with Amazon Music:
He also joined the Breakfast Club crew for a social distancing-friendly virtual interview during which he addressed a number of fan-interesting topics including his longstanding creative relationship with Young Thug and how he hopes everyone’s life perspective has shifted due to COVID-19.
“I just wanna live life to the fullest because you never know what can happen . . . Nobody planned for this,” he said when asked what he planned to do once life started to return to a certain level of normalcy for more people. “We don’t know what’s gonna happen the next day. We don’t know what’s ahead of us. It just made made me think about, like, just cherish family and cherish your life and cherish your blessings.”
Asked about his decision to keep the WUNNA tracklist, as well as the release date, under wraps until very recently, Gunna broke down his process.
“Man, I procrastinated so much just trying to time it right to have my own time and my own moment because there’s so much music coming out,” he said, adding that the title and concept ended up aligning well with the release date in an astrological sense.
