Little Simz’s ‘NO THANK YOU’ LP Is An Essential Listen
Written by SOURCE on December 13, 2022
The plaudits and awards are still technically rolling in for Little Simz’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, and honestly, we were content with letting it roll a little longer and continuing to digest it, but then last week, Simbi took to her socials to make the shock announcement that not only had she been working on a new album, but also that she would be releasing it within the week. That day has now come and late last night her latest tome, NO THANK YOU, hit streaming services.
Once again, Inflo is in the producer seat and he continues a lot of the same threads that ran through SIMBI (and the various SAULT projects Simz has contributed to over the years), but with a slightly heavier emphasis on gospel and soul as opposed to the orchestral sounds of the last album. There are also even fewer features than SIMBI—which only included guest spots from Obongjayar and actor Emma Corrin—with just Cleo Sol chiming in with extra vocals.
Between her wins at the MOBOs, the BRITs and the Mercury Prize, it’s been an absolutely massive year for Little Simz. Judging by early fan reactions, it doesn’t look like 2023 is going to be too quiet either.
Get into NO THANK YOU below.
