Louis C.K. won another Grammy on Sunday night, with his Sincerely Louis C.K. stand-up special ultimately taking home the evening’s Best Comedy Album award.

The comedian, who previously won in the same category with his Live at Madison Square Garden album back in 2016, is among the names often mentioned amid commentary on so-called “cancel culture.” As pointed out in Sunday night’s ensuing reactions, however, C.K.’s win that evening arguably undermines the very idea.

In 2017, C.K. shared a statement in response to a New York Times piece in which multiple women accused the comedian of sexual misconduct. In the statement, C.K. admitted “these stories are true” and said that he had “brought pain to my family, my friends, my children, and their mother.”

Also nominated for Best Comedy Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards were Chelsea Handler’s Evolution, Lavell Crawford’s The Comedy Vaccine, Lewis Black’s Thanks for Risking Your Life, Kevin Hart’s Zero Fucks Given, and Nate Bargatze’s The Greatest Average American.
