Mac Miller’s Spotify Singles Session Released

Written by on November 28, 2018

Mac Miller‘s Spotify Singles EP has been released.

For the sessions, Miller performed his Swimming cut “Dunno” and a cover of the Grammy-nominated 1974 Billy Preston hit “Nothing From Nothing.” Preston, of course, is also known for his work with the Beatles on the Let It Be and Abbey Road albums. Stream both songs below exclusively via Spotify.

These excellent Miller sessions are just the latest two-track release from Spotify’s Singles series, which earlier this year bagged more than 1 billion streams. The series, now with two years under its belt, was designed with the era of 45s and traditional singles in mind. “Recording these tracks also opens up the opportunity for artists from across genres to join us in our uniquely inspiring Studio to record a new take on one of their top songs, as well as a cover by their own favorite musician or group,” a Spotify rep said when announcing the billion streams milestone over the summer.

Miller died at his Studio City home in September due to an accidental drug overdose. During the family-sanctioned Celebration of Life event at the Greek in Los Angeles the following month, friends and collaborators gathered to pay tribute to the 26-year-old artist whose latest album Swimming had garnered him some of the most glowing reviews of his continually progressive career.

“Mac, thank you for so many different things,” Chance the Rapper said during the tribute event. “Thank you for the music you made; thank you for the music that you provided other people with, for the opportunities that you provided me with, but overall, for the friendships that you built through your music and through your artistry.”
