Reality TV star June Shannon, known widely as “Mama June,” was arrested this week on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
TMZ reports the 39-year-old mother was taken into custody Wednesday following a domestic dispute at an Alabama gas station. Mama June’s boyfriend, Geno Doak, was also arrested for the same drug-related charges in addition to domestic violence/harassment. Details about the altercation have not been revealed, but when police arrived on the scene, Doak reportedly warned them about the contents of his pockets.
“I don’t want you to get sticked or nothing,” he told officers as they patted him down.
According to TMZ, authorities discovered Doak was in possession of a needle, which prompted them to search Mama June as well as her vehicle. They reportedly found a pipe with residue inside Mama June’s jogging suit, another needle on the driver’s floorboard, and a green pill bottle containing a white powder inside the glove compartment; Mama June reportedly admitted to officers that the white substance was crack cocaine.
Shortly after her release, Mama June attempted to retrieve her car out of impound. TMZ has shared audio of her phone conversation with the tow truck driver; she tells the man she is unable to provide her driver’s license, as it was “misplaced.” Mama June also denies the reports that she and Doak were involved in a domestic dispute, and insists her boyfriend was arrested on DUI.
“They detained me because I couldn’t prove who the f**k I was,” she told the man. “[…] You know how that s**t goes: They detain every motherf**ker in that goddamn car.”

Mama June rose to prominence as the matriarch on the TLC series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The show was ultimately canceled after it was revealed Mama June was dating convicted child molester Mark Anthony McDaniel, Sr. The woman was then featured on another reality series called From Not To Hot, which centered on her 300-pound weight loss journey.
