Man Arrested Over Deaths of Model & Friend Charged With Assaulting 4 Women

Written by on December 20, 2021

TW: This story contains descriptions of sexual assault.

A man who was previously reported to have been arrested in connection with the deaths of model Christy Giles and architect Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola has been charged with sexually assaulting four other women.

Per a recent news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, David Brian Pearce of Beverly Hills was charged on Dec. 17 with two counts of forcible rape and one count each of rape of an unconscious or asleep person and sexual penetration by a foreign object. Pearce is alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman in August 2010, as well as alleged to have raped a woman in February 2019, in addition to two other women in 2020.

In a statement shared when announcing the charges, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said his office “takes violence against women very seriously,” adding that the Pearce case is still evolving. “By aggressively prosecuting sexual assault cases, we make our community safer and protect others from becoming victims in the future,” Gascón said.

Pearce, per CBS News, remained behind bars on a million-dollar bail as of Friday. He was previously arrested on manslaughter suspicion in connection with the deaths of 24-year-old Christy Giles and her 26-year-old friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola.

No formal charges have been filed against Pearce or two other men who were held on accessory to manslaughter suspicion in connection with the deaths of Giles and Cabrales-Arzola. As for the other two men, identified as Michael Ansbach and Brandt Osborn, they have since been released.

Per booking records viewed by Complex, Ansbach was released on bond and has an upcoming court date set for April of next year. Osborn’s arrest, meanwhile, has since been updated in booking records to be listed as a “detention only,” with no formal charges currently set to be filed.

According to LAPD detectives, masked men dropped off Giles—who was unconscious and ultimately pronounced dead—at Southern California Hospital in Culver City on Nov. 13. The individuals were traveling in a black Toyota Prius without plates.

Not long after, the same masked men dropped off Cabrales-Arzola at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Hospital. At the time, she was unconscious and in “very critical condition,” later being declared on Nov. 24. Both women, per detectives, are believed to have been given drugs and overdosed at a location in the 8600 block Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles. At the time, the LAPD shared their concerns that there could be other victims in the Los Angeles area who could have also allegedly been drugged by one of these men.
