Man Found Guilty on Two Charges in Connection With UNO Game Shooting

Written by on May 5, 2022

A Georgia man has ben found guilty on two charges in connection with a shooting that took place over a game of UNO in December 2020.

Per a report from regional outlet Fox 5 Atlanta, Taylor Grant was found guilty by a Cobb County jury of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. The verdict against Grant, 34, was initially announced by Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr.’s office in a public release shared on April 28.

“Taylor Grant has been found guilty of two charges from a December 2020 shooting incident that shattered the victim’s humerus bone,” Broady’s office announced. “His sentencing will be at a later date.”

In a separate report from WSB-TV, the shooting victim is said to have been merely visiting the area at the time, with the shooting itself taking place at the home of Grant’s cousin on Dec. 13, 2020. Following a game of UNO, Grant and the individual who was visiting from California got into an argument, at which point Grant is alleged to have shot him “in the bicep.”

While Grant initially said he had no knowledge of who shot him, he ultimately detailed the incident to police once he returned home, later saying in Grant’s trial that he was hesitant to come forward because he didn’t want anyone to end up in trouble over what transpired. He changed his mind, however, once he was required to undergo multiple surgeries in connection with the shooting.

In comments to the Cobb County Courier, Assistant District Attorney Nemonie Nooks cited possible intoxication as the “catalyst” for the shooting.
