Newly released court documents have shed more light on the death of Kevin Bacon, a 25-year-old hairstylist who was reportedly murdered by his Grindr date.

According NBC News, Bacon is believed to have met up with 50-year-old Mark Latunski on Christmas Eve after they connected on the popular dating app. Bacon reportedly informed his roommate about the meet-up before he traveled to Latunksi’s house located in Morrice, Michigan—about 25 miles away from Bacon’s home in Flint. Shortly after, the young man texted his roommate to say he might not make it home that night. He was reported missing the following day, after he didn’t show up to his family’s Christmas morning breakfast.

Bacon’s friends and family alerted police and took to social media for help in their search.

Michigan authorities eventually found Bacon’s vehicle in a dollar store parking lot and were able to track down his last known location to Latunski’s residence. On Dec. 28, Latunski reportedly allowed police to enter and search his home, where they would ultimately find Bacon “hanging deceased and naked from the ceiling.” Investigators said Latunksi admitted to murdering the man.

“Mr. Latunski stated he used a knife, stabbed him in the back one time, then slit his throat,” Detective Sergeant James Moore said during testimony. “Afterwards, Mr. Latunski stated he wrapped rope around the ankles of Mr. Bacon, and hung him from the rafters on the ceiling.”

BuzzFeed News reported that the suspect also admitted to cutting off Bacon’s testicles and eating parts of the victim’s body. Latunski was arrested and charged with one count of open murder and one count of mutilation. He faces up to life in prison if convicted. Latunski is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Grindr released the following statement to MLive.com in response to the tragedy:

We at Grindr are heartbroken to hear about this terrible tragedy, and share our condolences with Mr. Bacon’s family and friends. While for privacy reasons we do not offer public comment on individual user accounts, we remain fully committed to working with law enforcement in the event of any investigation.

NBC News reports that about a month before Bacon’s murder, police responded to a call about a partially nude man who was being chased by Latunski outside his home. Authorities said the 29-year-old had blood on his face and was screaming for help; however, he declined to press charges and police determined there was no crime.
