A man who reportedly robbed a Philadelphia pharmacy showed a note to the counter clerk that said he needed the money for his sick child.
In surveillance footage from Jan. 3, the man—who wears a gray hoodie and dark gloves—took an item to the Rite Aide register. The clerk begins scanning the item and placing it in a plastic bag when the man gives a note to the employee that partially reads, “Give me all the money. I’m sorry, I have a sick child. You have 15 seconds,” according to CNN.
The suspect then reaches into his pocket and leans over the counter before the clerk opens the register and puts an unknown amount of cash into the plastic bag.
The suspect put the bag in his pockets and walked away on foot, police said. The man didn’t brandish a weapon during the robbery, Philadelphia police officer Tanya Little told CNN.
The suspect is still at large. He’s described as a black man between 30 and 40 years old, under 6 feet tall, with facial hair.
A similar, unrelated attempted robbery took place in the area months before. In July, a man with a handgun tried to rob a smoke shop for his daughter’s kidney transplant. After the clerk gave him several hundred dollars, the man stopped and told the clerk it “probably wouldn’t help” his daughter’s operation. The suspect was never identified either.
