Markelle Fultz Reportedly No Longer in the Sixers’ ‘Long Term Plans’

Written by on November 25, 2018

The Sixers‘ troubled Markelle Fultz era might be coming to an end as the guard looks for a second opinion on his mysterious shoulder injury.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, sources close to the 76ers said that Fultz isn’t in their “long term plans” and they’re considering trading him. The new development comes days after David Aldridge reported Fultz’s decision to heed the advice of his lawyers and not play or return to practice until he’s seen by a shoulder specialist on Monday.

Fultz consulting with a non-Sixers coach to modify his shooting mechanics has led many in the organization to believe that the former No. 1 pick has not fully bought into the process. As a result, several sources have told The Athletic that Fultz has little desire to continue growing with the Sixers organization, claiming he “would prefer a fresh start with a new team.”

As the Fultz’s drama continues, Philadelphia at least hasn’t regretted trading for Jimmy Butler. He’s averaged 18 points in his six games with Philadelphia and hit a game-winner against the Charlotte Hornets earlier this month.
