Merry Christmas One And All: D Double E Has Released The Audio Of His Ikea Advert

Up until this year, the battle for the UK’s ultimate Christmas advert has typically been fought by a few major players — Coca Cola, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencers and one or two others — but this year a new player entered the chat. 

Last week Swedish furniture giants IKEA threw their hat into the ring with one of the most original Christmas ads yet. There was no Santa in sight, no snow and no sleigh bells, but it still captured the heart of the internet. While others might opt for a sappy short story about a child meeting Santa or a Snowman-esque fairytale, IKEA swerved left and called on D Double E to spray a couple of verses about furniture. And it was brilliant.

It quickly inspired a bounty of memes, and lines like If your house was a car it would get pulled over have made it the most talked about advert for years. To keep the vibe going, IKEA and D Double have wisely put the full audio on Spotify, with an extra verse to boot.
