Microsoft Unveils Latest Console Xbox Project Scarlett

Written by on June 9, 2019

As expected, Microsoft has revealed its next generation Xbox console, dubbed Project Scarlett, during its E3 conference.

Slated for a holiday 2020 release, Project Scarlett is four times more powerful than its predecessor, the Xbox One X. Here are some additional specs for you to chew on.

Sony’s next-generation console, which we call the PlayStation 5 for argument’s sake, is believed to feature specs, such as 8K graphics and 120Hz refresh rate support, similar to, if not more powerful than Project Scarlett. We will ultimately find out about those finer details when the PS5 is unveiled.

The holiday 2020 launch of Project Scarlett will be coupled with the release of Halo Infinite. “This story will mark the beginning of a new chapter and challenge for the Chief, but it will also respect and continue threads that led to this point,” Chris Lee, studio head of Halo Infinite, said, per The Verge. “If you’ve never played a Halo game before, this will be a great place to jump into the story.”

In the nearly six-minute trailer for the latest installment in the Halo franchise, Microsoft shied away from including actual gameplay in its presentation.

Microsoft copied the same playbook they used for the announcement of the Xbox One X during E3 2017 for Project Scarlett. Before the previous console was unveiled, the system was referred to as Project Scorpio.
