Nancy Pelosi Rips Copy of Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address After Handshake Snub

Things got extremely tense at Donald Trump‘s State of the Union address on Tuesday night.
It all started when Trump seemingly decided to ignore House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when she tried to go in for a handshake after he handed off copies of his prepared remarks to Mike Pence and Pelosi. For what it’s worth, Trump didn’t shake Pence’s hand either although the VP didn’t extend his hand out.
Check out the alleged handshake snub below.
Then, at the end of Trump’s address, Pelosi ripped her copy of Trump’s speech. Whew.
When asked why she tore the papers, Pelosi responded, “It was the courteous thing to do considering the alternative.”
Pelosi later took to Twitter to speak on what transpired and said that “Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done #ForThePeople.” She continued, “We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot.”
It goes without saying that Trump and Pelosi have not seen eye to eye and that things between the two have become more strained due to the impeachment trial. The trial is set to end on Wednesday with Trump’s acquittal on two articles, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump is the only U.S. president to run for re-election after being impeached.
During last year’s State of the Union, Pelosi spawned the creation of thousands of memes when she vigorously clapped at Trump.
It seems safe to say that more memes are on the way.
