It looks like the National Treasure franchise is getting the TV show treatment.

In a new interview with Collider, producer Jerry Bruckheimer divulged that a series for Disney+ is currently in development.

“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active,” Bruckheimer said. “The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”

In January, reports surfaced that director Jon Turtletaub was working on National Treasure 3 with Bad Boys for Life screenwriter Chris Bremner. According to Bruckheimer, the screenplay is still in progress—and the Disney+ series is more developed than the film.

“The film version is being written right now. The television version is in process. We have a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes,” Bruckheimer said.

Turtletaub directed both National Treasure movies, which focus on the historian and occasional bandit Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) who’s always in pursuit of America’s hidden treasures. Even though Nicolas Cage won’t star in the series, he has another trick up his sleeve: This week it was announced that he has been tapped to play Tiger King subject Joe Exotic in a scripted series from Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios.
