Netflix Drops Final Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’

Written by on November 19, 2019

Netflix has quite an event on the horizon with The Irishman, the new one from Martin Scorsese that’s certain to stack some serious cards in the streaming empire’s favor heading into awards season.

Tuesday, fresh off Scorsese’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Netflix shared the final trailer for the epic starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Ray Romano. Catch that up top.

The epic is told from the perspective of Frank Sheeran and spans decades, with the story playing out against the backdrop of the mystery of Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance. Speaking with Kimmel on Monday night, Scorsese recalled the years-long journey that ultimately brought the deeply personal film to Netflix.

The film, he explained, presented an opportunity for the team to “learn about ourselves and go deeper” as opposed to simply revisiting the revered results of their previous creations.

“As [De Niro] was talking about the character, he became rather emotional about it and I said ‘Ah, that’s something,'” Scorsese said of an early meeting he had with De Niro about the project after the actor had been introduced to the source material, i.e. Charles Brandt’s 2004 release I Heard You Paint Houses.

The Irishman hits Netflix Nov. 27 following a theatrical run that began earlier this month.

This story is being updated.
