Netflix Renews ‘Stranger Things’ for Season 4, Signs Overall Deal With Duffer Brothers

Written by on September 30, 2019

The future is bright for Stranger Things and its creators, the Duffer Brothers.

Netflix has renewed the sci-fi series for a fourth season—and on top of that, creators and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer have signed a multi-year film and series overall deal, The Wrap reports.

“The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love,” Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement Monday. “We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”

As if that wasn’t enough news to announce, Netflix also dropped a short video that indicates Stranger Things 4 won’t take place in Hawkins, Indiana.

Stranger Things 3, which debuted on July 4, stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Maya Hawke, and Priah Ferguson.

Netflix also has another Millie project in the works. The actress is developing a film titled A Time Lost, based on an original story by her and her older sister, Paige Brown. The movie will reportedly center on two Long Island families whose long-standing feud comes to a head after one of their daughters is diagnosed with cancer.
