Netflix’s ‘Dear White People’ Series Renewed for Fourth and Final Season

Written by on October 2, 2019

Following the premiere of season three in August, the cast of Dear White People revealed that the show will return to Netflix for its fourth and last season, Deadline reports

The show’s star, Marque Richardson (Reggie Green), helped break the news via social media. In the video, Richardson tells his co-stars the announcement in a group FaceTime call. The final season will reportedly contain 10 episodes that will be produced by Lionsgate. Creator Justin Simien will also continue his position as the series’ co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Assisting Simien as showrunner and executive producer is Yvette Lee Bowser.

“I’m so grateful my little indie-that-could has made it to four seasons at Netflix,” Simien said, per Deadline. “This show, along with the many talented storytellers it has brought into my orbit, has changed my life and I can’t wait to create a celebratory final volume befitting such a transformative experience.” Although this is the last season, this might not be the last time fans get to experience Winchester University or the show’s stars. The publication mentioned that potential Dear White People spinoffs could come to fruition in the future.
