New Defendant Added to Tekashi 6ix9ine Case

On Thursday afternoon, the already complicated 6ix9ine racketeering case got a bit more complicated. Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced the unsealing of a superseding indictment in the case. It introduced a new suspect into the mix, and removed an existing one.
The indictment charges Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack with racketeering, narcotics, and firearms offenses. He was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon. In addition to accusing Mack of membership in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, the indictment alleges that he dealt heroin, fentanyl, and MDMA. Mack had not previously been charged in the case.
“As alleged in the superseding indictment, Aljermiah Mack, like his Nine Trey co-conspirators, engaged in brazen acts of gun violence and narcotics dealing,” Berman said in a statement.
Also named in the indictment is one existing defendant, Anthony “Harv” Ellison. Ellison is the person who allegedly kidnapped 6ix9ine in July, 2018.
A name was missing in the new indictment: Roland “Ro Murda” Martin. Martin had, along with Ellison, been one of the two remaining defendants in the case who, prior to today, hadn’t pleaded guilty. The Press Office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York declined to comment on why Martin’s name didn’t appear on the new indictment, but one likely reason is that he is about to plead guilty himself—thus there’s no need to make sure he’s charged with a crime. Mack and Ellison both face maximum sentences of life in prison if convicted.
