New Lil Peep Album of Unreleased Tracks Announced by Mother Liza Womack

Written by on July 15, 2019

A new album comprised of unreleased tracks from the Lil Peep catalog has been announced by the late influential genre-merger’s mother, Liza Womack.

In an Instagram note over the weekend, the latest posthumous Peep project—preceded by the 2018 album Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2—was described as a collection of unreleased songs put together by Womack and several original Peep collaborators.

“Who wants a new album with amazing unreleased Lil Peep music put together by Gus’ mom and the songs’ original collaborators?” Womack said. “You have been asking for this, and I can’t wait to get it to you!”

Yep.

Though it’s not yet clear what will be included on the project, its announcement notably follows the release of Travis Barker‘s “Adam’s Song”-inspired remix of Peep and XXXTentacion’s “Falling Down,” which was itself a reworking of a song Peep co-penned with Makonnen.

For Barker, the track is one that “just puts you in a mood,” boasting a style that’s not unlike the classic blink track “Adam’s Song.” Leaning into that influence, Barker’s remix sees the prolific drummer/producer beefing up the choruses and riding the toms in the verses.

In January, Makonnen said another new project—a Peep x Makonnen collab album—was due later this year. “I’ve Been Waiting,” which also featured Fall Out Boy, stands as the long-teased project’s first single.

“After his passing, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy reached out to me, extended his condolences, and said, ‘Is there anything I can do?'” Makonnen told Complex at the time. “I was telling him, me and Peep were working on our album. And I told him Peep had said that [his style is like a combination of] me and Fall Out Boy.”
