The NFL is a cruel business. It’s also a league that moves on quickly from players once teams think they can no longer help them win. When Cam Newton was placed on IR earlier this week by the Carolina Panthers, many figured that he won’t play another game with the team. Yes, Newton has been beat up the past few seasons, but to see a team move on from a former MVP is still jarring.
Even with Newton’s past injuries, there’s no question that teams would be interested in adding him. He’s essentially set to be one of the biggest names available next offseason and will have had plenty of time to get healthy over the next few months. Teams always need QBs and the lure of Cam’s skillset will surely drive a high price.
