Nick Cannon Says He’ll Never Get Married Again: ‘I Don’t Believe In Marriage Anymore’

After being in high profile marriage once, Nick Cannon doesn’t think he’ll ever walk down the aisle again.
Cannon’s Nick Cannon Mornings put together a segment that would send the entertainer on a blind date with one of his listeners. Although he signed on to take someone to the Yamashiro Restaurant in Hollywood, Cannon told Entertainment Tonight‘s Lauren Zima ahead of his date that he’s not interested in ever being married again.
“I don’t believe in marriage anymore,” the 39-year-old said. “My mindset has changed. I have done that. I don’t like doing things that I am not good at.”
Cannon and Mariah Carey got married in 2008. Three years later, the couple welcomed twins, Moroccan and Monroe, into the world. While Cannon went after—and continues to throw jabs—at Eminem to protect his wife’s honor, the two had a rocky relationship. Cannon and Carey filed for divorce in 2014 before reconciling in 2015. This reunion didn’t last long as the couple officially called it quits in 2016.
Cannon claims that this experience shifted the way he views marriage. Despite being well-versed and accomplished in many fields, he admits that he’s not good at being married. This lack of proficiency has led him to conserve his energy by never getting married again.
“My mindset has changed. I have done that. I don’t like doing things that I am not good at. … If you jumped out of a plane on time and it did not work out—you would not do it again, would you?” Cannon asked. “I barely survived. Why would I jump out of the plane again?”
But just because he’s opposed to marriage doesn’t mean Cannon’s turned off to the idea of commitment or that he’s a womanizer.
“It’s the funniest thing, my kids call me a player. I was like, ‘Who taught you that word? Who’s been talking to you?’ And [Moroccan’s] like, ‘Dad you can’t be a player forever.’ I’m like, this is the worst,” Cannon said for adding that he’s still a hopeless romantic.
“I am a hopeless romantic,” he said. “So I was like, to be able to engage with someone and kinda just have a real moment opposed to always being about, ‘Oh, I’m searching, I’m looking, I’m single. I’m trying to fall back on that.”
