Nick Foles Lost A Shot At $1 Million With His Injury

Philadelphia Eagles QB and living myth Nick Foles fell just short of earning an extra $1 million today, and he did it in about the unluckiest way imaginable.
Foles had a bonus in his contract that he would receive if his Eagles went to the playoffs and he played in 33 percent of the team’s offensive plays. He had to check out of the final game of the season against the Redskins with an injury. Unfortunately, the injury left him sitting at exactly 32 percent of the Eagles’ plays.
Coming up short is particularly painful considering how well Foles played in the team’s playoff-spot-sealing win. He tied the NFL record for most consecutive completions with 25 straight. He threw two touchdowns and kept the Eagles humming along in a 24-0 rout of the Redskins. Before that, he’d led Philly on a five-game winning streak to get them in position to play for the playoffs.
The reigning Super Bowl MVP will have plenty of opportunities to win bonuses now that the Eagles are back in the postseason. And Foles, who was being treated for bruised ribs, is reportedly good to play next week.
