Nicole Murphy has gotten herself caught up in some controversy, but she’s now taken it upon herself to clarify the situation.
The fashion model and ex-wife of Eddie Murphy has issued a statement to TMZ in which she apologized for kissing married director Antoine Fuqua.
“Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to Lela and the Fuqua family for what transpired,” Murphy said. “It was not my intention to be in this situation. I do not condone women kissing or interacting in anyway inappropriately with a married man. I too was once married and I would never intentionally undermine another woman, despite what has been written.”
This week, images surfaced of Murphy locking lips with Fuqua while the two were on vacation. At first, Murphy claimed that they were just “family friends” sharing a casual kiss. But, this didn’t sit well with the public because Fuqua has been married to actress Lela Rochon since 1999. According to herself and sources, Murphy only kissed Fuqua because she was under the impression that his relationship with Rochon was over. Since she didn’t go into detail, it is unclear why she assumed the two were no longer together. Murphy’s friends say she feels terrible about the incident and hopes fans will forgive her.
When the images of their kiss began to go viral, fans found it urgent to check on Murphy’s biggest fan and admirer Shannon Sharpe. As professed, Sharpe thinks Murphy is “finer than frog hair” and the thought that she could be in a relationship might’ve devastated one of America’s favorite uncles. But upon seeing the pictures, Sharpe assured social media that that’s just Murphy’s “friend.”
