Nike Air Max 1 ‘Sketch to Shelf’ CJ4286-101 Release Date
Written by SOURCE on July 11, 2019
In recent years, Nike has pulled back the curtain on its design processes more than ever before, allowing fans to get a more detailed understanding of the inner workings of their favorite sneakers through projects such as Virgil Abloh’s “The Ten” collab. Keeping with the work-in-progress theme, the brand is set to drop a version of the Air Max 1 inspired by designer Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch.
Like the aforementioned “The Ten” series, this new iteration of the Air Max 1 peels back the model’s traditional layers for a stripped-down look. However, all of the runner’s original materials are here, redesigned to appear as though Hatfield himself had scribbled colors and added notations to the upper. Everything from the shoe’s signature red mudguard and Swoosh to its synthetic suede grey overlays have been “colored” in, and the theme even extends to the translucent outsole.
According to early leaks, this Air Max 1 “Tinker Sketch” is on target for a September 2019 drop, but be sure to check back in the coming weeks for updates.
UPDATE (07/09): Set to drop alongside the “Schematic” Air Max 1 as part of a “Sketch to Shelf” pack inspired by designer Tinker Hatfield’s original drawings, this “Tinker Sketch” colorway is set to drop Saturday, July 13 from select retailers.
UPDATE (07/11): This “Sketch to Shelf” Air Max 1 has officially been added to SNKRS with a release date locked in for Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. ET and a retail price of $150.
