Nike Air Max 2019 ‘Give Fresh Air’ Campaign
Written by SOURCE on March 8, 2019
Since its inception in 2014, Nike’s annual Air Max Day celebration on March 26 has been the brand’s way of introducing new product to the market. Last year, the highlight was Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97 design. In 2019, Nike is using its self-made holiday to give back to the community.
According to a memo sent to select retailers by Nike, the sportswear company will not be releasing anything for Air Max Day 2019, but instead is focusing on bettering local communities through the “Give Fresh Air” initiative in collaboration with various athletes and local retailers.
“Our launch this Air Max Day won’t be a shoe but a call to action to pay it forward. 3.26.19 will not be about buying sneakers, it will be about giving them to others,” read the message. “We will leverage the power of the Nike network to elevate and heroize these stories and in the process champion one of the largest sneaker drives in modern history. This Air Max Day, don’t buy. Give.”
Releases originally planned for Air Max Day will instead be dropping over the upcoming months.
Nike has not responded to Sole Collector’s request for comment regarding the “Give Fresh Air” campaign at this time.
