Nike PG 4 Paul George Release Date CD5082-001
Written by SOURCE on January 5, 2020
The signature sneaker landscape in the NBA is as crowded as its ever been right now, and most of that is dominated by Nike. LeBron is on his 17th sneaker, Kyrie on his 6th, Giannis on his 1st, KD on his 12th, and now Paul George is on his 4th.
George’s line has been an interesting one thus far—he has made some waves in the collaborative space on pairings with PlayStation and NASA, but it has primarily found success on the hardwood.
Maybe the new PG 4 can add to that. From a looks perspective, the 4 might be the most daring yet, boasting a zip-up construction, a new-look Swoosh, and an overall shape reminiscent of the high-tech Adapt BB. Like most of George’s line, it appears that comfort and performance were prioritized in its creation, but there are also some intriguing colorway possibilities that will almost certainly be explored. No release information is available just yet, but grab a first look and stay tuned for details.
UPDATE (12/24): Check out an official look at what’s expected to be the upcoming Nike PG 4 below. As of now, George’s fourth signature sneaker has yet to be unveiled by the brand but check back soon for updates.
UPDATE (01/05): Nike has officially introduced the PG 4, touting its Air Strobel footbed, made up of a full-length Nike Air unit, sewn onto the upper so that the foot is directly atop the cushioning. The result of feedback from George himself, the system provides cloud-like comfort and responsiveness to complement his rhythmic style of play. Designer Tony Hardman also employed a semi-transparent, mesh-zippered shroud that fastens over the laces and gives the shoe a snug fit, with a gill-like speed lacing system revealed underneath. Stylistically, the shoes can be played in with the laces underneath the shroud or above it via two holes near the collar.
The Nike PG 4 will release in black and white in China on Jan. 8 and globally on Jan. 24.
