As the death toll following a crowd surge at Travis Scott’s Astroworld festival continues to rise, Nike is pushing the pause button on the Cactus Jack entertainer’s next sneaker collaboration.
Originally set to launch on Dec. 16, the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1’s Baroque Brown and Saturn Gold colorways have been postponed indefinitely.
“Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” reads a statement pushed to the top of Nike’s SNKRS app feed.
Travis’ Nike Air Max 1 has been teased throughout the last few months and the two aforementioned styles are reportedly part of a wider collection with five total colorways. The Baroque Brown makeup was pre-released days prior to Astroworld at Houston’s Space Village store via Nike SNKRS Pass, making those the only pairs officially made available thus far.
It remains to be seen what will come of the postponed Air Max 1s, but they aren’t the only anticipated Cactus Jack collaboration on the horizon. The artist also has a set of Nike Air Trainer 1s and new Air Jordan 1 Lows in the works, although no dates have been confirmed for either of those.
A total of 10 concertgoers have died following the Nov. 5 Astroworld event in Houston, the most recent being nine-year-old Ezra Blount.
