Nipsey Hussle was reportedly paying a visit to his Marathon Clothing shop in Los Angeles to pick up some new clothes for a friend when he was fatally shot.
Hussle, who was well-known for his generosity at the community level, is said to have been at the shop to get some new clothes for “an old friend” who was recently released from prison. According to TMZ, Hussle was stopping by to hook up his friend so he would have something fresh to wear when meeting with friends and family Sunday.
The report adds that the friend in question was with Hussle at the time of the shooting. In fact, the friend and his nephew are now being reported as having been on the scene and injured during the shooting. The visit itself reportedly wasn’t planned, with “no one” on Hussle’s team aware it was even taking place.
Tuesday, 29-year-old suspect Eric Holder was arrested in the city of Bellflower in Los Angeles County. Holder, per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m., at which point LAPD arrived on the scene and confirmed the arrested person was Holder. According to a local CBS report, the alleged Chevrolet Cruz getaway driver is still at large.
Hussle’s 2018 album Victory Lap bagged a Best Rap Album nod at this year’s Grammys. Back in February, Hussle followed the album’s success with his new single and video for “Racks in the Middle” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy. Revisit that below.
RIP Nipsey.
