NLE Choppa Pays Homage to Cash Money With “Ain’t Gonna Answer” f/ Lil Wayne

NLE Choppa tapped Lil Wayne for a new single and music video “Ain’t Gonna Answer,” and used the opportunity to reverently pay tribute to Weezy, Cash Money, the Hot Boys, “Back That Azz Up,” and more.
The track prominently borrows the “What we doing? Makin’ money/What they doing? Hatin’ on us” refrain from Wayne and Baby’s “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy,” and even tips its hat to the Tunechi deep cut “Private Dancer.” The Zaeim-directed visual features a Hollygrove sign and, arguably, some “Fireman” video vibes from the Carter II era. Choppa tapped into the spirit of Tha Carter III and IV’s album art for some Instagram promo earlier this week:
“Ain’t Gonna Answer” is the latest in a string of tracks the Memphis rapper has dropped this year, following “Champions,” “Mo Upfront,” and “23,” all of which are set to appear on NLE Choppa’s April 14 album Cottonwood 2. It’ll feature guest appearances from Pooh Shiesty, Rod Wave, and DaBaby, and marks the artist’s first full-length offering since January 2022, when Choppa dropped Me vs. Me. The record will also serve as the official follow-up to his debut album Top Shotta.
Released in August 2020, Top Shotta included the hit singles “Walk Em Down” and “Narrow Road,” as well as features from Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, and Chief Keef.

Last month NLE gave Wayne actual flowers on set, verbally, florally, and in writing:
