Oakland Raiders Rookie Johnathan Abram’s Injury Reportedly Season-Ending

Written by on September 11, 2019

According to reports, Oakland Raiders Safety Johnathan Abram’s first season in the NFL is most likely done after he suffered an injury in a Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos. Abram’s rotator cuff and Labrum were reportedly torn during the first quarter of Monday night’s game. Abram is scheduled to have surgery this week.

News of the 1st-round pick’s injuries came from Bleacher Report‘s Adam Lefkoe. ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports a source as saying that Abram “will seek a second opinion/examination of his shoulder area…”

Abram had five tackles during his debut game. “I think he probably got a little bit too reckless at times,” Raiders coach Jon Gruden said of Abram. “He made some great plays, some impact plays, and certainly I think some tackles he’s got to make for us, he missed. But his debut was pretty good.”

The Raiders ended up winning against the Broncos. The final score was 24-16.
