Authorities are squashing rumors about a fatal shooting that occurred at Dave Chappelle‘s Midwest home.
WHIO reports the incident took place at around 11 a.m. ET Wednesday near Yellow Springs, Ohio, where Chappelle resides with his family on 39 acres of farmland. Immediately after law enforcement confirmed the shooting resulted in multiple deaths, rumors began circulating that the incident went down in Chappelle’s home and that he was somehow involved.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office and Chappelle’s representatives have since confirmed that the comedian was not connected to the shooting.
“It did not happen at Dave’s home. He’s fine,” Chappelle’s rep Carla Sims told the New York Post, adding that the comedian was in London at the time of the incident.
Ohio authorities confirmed a male and female were killed in the shooting, but have not released the victims’ names nor have they determined a motive. It is believed that the homeowners had pulled up to their driveway before they were confronted by the suspected gunman. WDTN reports the male homeowner and the suspect began exchanging gunfire when a woman—reportedly the ex-wife of the homeowner—pulled up and began shooting as well. When police arrived, they found a woman and man dead in the driveway.
The shooting is under investigation.
